"With forays into the stylings of folk-legends like John Prine, Tom Rush and Tom Paxton, Ken's music sneaks into your feet, heart, and soul" (No Depression, USA).
"His superb musicianship, sensitive lyrics, and gentle demeanour always create a memorable performance" (Harry Chapin Food Bank, USA).
"Ken's guitar playing is beautiful, his original songs inspiring, and the audience always leaves with a fresh outlook on life and a belief in the possibility of a better, more peaceful world." (Field of Dreams FolkFest, Canada).
Whether mining the depths of human emotion, or pleading the case for social and environmental justice, veteran Canadian folk singer-songwriter Ken Dunn has inspired, and warmed the hearts of audiences both large and small across Canada, the U.S., and Central America. Combining "brilliant acoustic fingerpicking" (Country Jukebox, Munich) with "strong, distinctive vocals" (Rock N' Reel, Dublin), and songwriting which is at once powerful and infused with delicate beauty, Ken delivers his message directly to the soul of the listener, with a style compared to that of Valdy (Northern Journey, Canada) and Neil Young (Roots, London, UK).
Over the past 30 years, Ken has performed at hundreds of venues across Canada, the U.S., and Central America, from concert halls to festivals and cafes, sharing the stage with and/or opening for folk and roots icons as diverse as Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie P. Bennett, Garnet Rogers, and James Gordon.
Ken has released 7 albums featuring some of Canada's finest musicians, including Dennis Pendrith, Mark Mariash, Tyler Beckett, and Roly Platt. "The Great Unknown" (2015) won a Best Americana Album Award at the Academia Music Awards in L.A. and Ken's most recent offering, "Wondrous Beauty" (2017) debuted at #48 Worldwide, and #7 on the Canadian Folk Charts.
Ken is available to perform solo, or as a duo with partner Anna Green.
