The Clay Ravens were founded upon the guttural, honey-smoked harmonies of two siblings: Justin and Brianne Huntley-Smith. Growing up on Salt Spring Island, BC the duo quickly chose music as their outlet into a bigger world and began their musical journey as a singer-songwriter project. Bassist Kelsey Butkus, also from Salt Spring Island, joined the group shortly thereafter.

After relocating to Vancouver BC, the Clay Ravens discovered their unique sound rooted in the soul of southern Americana music. Requiring a larger group, the Clay Ravens added fiddle player Matt Cook-Contois who brought his own musical prowess and further pushed the band into new territories.
Releasing the Wildfire EP (Independent), the band was compelled to add more and more layers to their sound. After months of searching, the band discovered the sounds of Brendan Tyndall’s shredding twang electric guitar gracing the venues of the Vancouver music scene. Brendan joined the band shortly after.
The final piece of puzzle came through the form of Jesse Mark's third line shuffle and dazzling jazz drum chops.
Through the combination of fate and will, the band has formed an extremely unique Americana sound that has audiences on the tip of their toes and screaming for more.
