To celebrate Canada 150, Mr. Quilico will present several of the major Canadian voices over the last decades, performing the repertoire that made each of them famous and known for. Together with an opera specialist, they will have re- searched the chosen artists biographies and Mr. Quilico will introduce each of the singers he will have chosen by telling some fascinating anecdotes about their lives before singing one of their trademark arias. From the great Emma Albani who was admittedly the first Canadian singer to become an international opera star to Jon Vickers, Pierrette Alarie & Léopold Simoneau (known as Mr. and Mrs. Mozart worldwide), Maureen Forrester, Raoul Jobin, Portia White (considered to be the first Black Canadian opera singer), Louis Quilico, André Turp, Joseph Rouleau, Pauline Donalda (Founder of the Opera Guild in Montreal and creator of the role of Concepcion in Maurice Ravel’s opera L’heure espagnole!), Teresa Stratas, Richard Verreau, one of the most celebrated tenors of his time, the list goes on and on.
