The narrator, played by well known actor and playwright, Kevin Loring (Nlakap’amux), regales us with tales about his feisty mother – a born storyteller with a love of exaggeration and invention. Margo Kane (Cree-Saulteaux), as Nana, exasperates the son she so fiercely loves – yet proves an inspiration for his art.

For her role, Kane was Nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role for the 2013 – 2014 Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards. Margo had this to say about the character of Nana:

"She’s kind of like all mothers. She nags him, she berates him, she teases him and tells him stories. She fills his head with fantasy about this, that and the other thing. And before she passes away she really encourages him and gives him a good kick to remind him he has to pursue his dream. She’s maddening and she’s funny and she’s very dramatic.”

The subtle writing along with the nuanced performances of this production made it one of the hits of Western Canada Theatre’s 2011 – 2012 Season. In fact, the piece was crittically praised and was invited by the prestigious Magnetic North Theatre Festival to perform in Ottawa in June 2013, where it won the Audience Choice Award.
